The Single Parent Hope Circle (SPHC)  is a community of individuals who believe no one should have to raise a child alone, especially not in the face of hardship.

We support low-income single parents in Singapore, citizens and non-citizens alike, who are doing their best to provide stability and love, often while carrying the full weight of family responsibilities. Rent, bill, childcare, diapers, milk, school fees. For these parents, every cost is a calculation. Every decision, a trade-off.

The Single Parent Hope Circle was created to ease that load. To support parents who are doing everything they can to make ends meet. With your support, we can help with everyday costs, so that parents can stop stretching and start breathing.

Syarifah, Mother of 3

At just 28, Syarifah is raising three children, aged 10, 2, and 1,  on her own.

She’s been her family’s sole provider since the birth of her eldest, working in F&B for over 8 years. Today, she earns what she can through a home-based business, but income has been unstable since November 2024.

Although Syarifah shares custody, she shoulders full caregiving as her ex-husband is often absent. With her two younger children frequently falling ill, reliable childcare is hard to come by — limiting her ability to work.

The stress takes a toll on her mental health, but she keeps going: “Even if I don’t eat, their needs are more important.”

Despite it all, she holds on to hope and is actively seeking training and work.

Zixuan, Mother of 2

Zixuan is a mother of two who works as a childminder and part-time delivery rider.

After months of hustling through long days, she was finally starting to find her footing — until one of her key jobs fell through, cutting her income in half overnight. Still, she hesitated to ask for help again, afraid people might think she wasn’t trying hard enough.

Zixuan’s barriers are complex. She’s unable to access most financial aid because her ex-partner is uncontactable — and without his documents, she can’t apply for support or file for divorce until their third year of marriage is up. That’s still months away.

Every day is a juggle of caregiving, deliveries, and keeping things afloat — but she’s determined to stand on her own.

Aisyah, Mother of 2

Aisyah is a mother of two navigating life after a divorce, a stroke, and the daily realities of raising a young child with suspected autism.

Since 2019, her health has steadily declined. A major seizure in 2022 led to a stroke that affected her speech and mobility, leaving her reliant on a full-time caregiver. Her youngest child, Hafiy, is non-verbal and requires round-the-clock care, which Aisyah tries her best to manage despite her condition.

With her divorce finalised in August 2024, she now faces the overwhelming task of moving her family into a new home — all while her ex-partner has yet to contribute child maintenance and insists she continue covering housing expenses until March 2025.

Though her days are shaped by caregiving, recovery, and financial strain, Aisyah remains focused on one thing: giving her children a safe, stable future.

What is a Hope Circle?

A Hope Circle (HC) is a pooled fund created to meet the needs of a specific group of people or for a specific need. When an individual campaign falls short of its crowdfunding goal, funds from the relevant Hope Circle are used to support the campaign. To ensure fairness, the specific amount is determined by Ray of Hope’s internal policies for each Hope Circle.

How can you help?

The HC is your opportunity to stand with parents who are a carrying a family with no safety net and no room to fall. By donating any amount, you help lighten the load for single parents and provide their children with the stability they need to thrive — in school, at home, and beyond.

You may also set up a recurring donation (min. $10/month) to provide consistent support for clients with longer-term needs.

As a donor, you will also get updates on how Ray of Hope utilised the funds in the SPHC and how your contributions have helped. You may also receive an invite to special events, where you can meet some of the clients you have supported.

As of April 2025, $25,546 has already been used to support the families  and only $2,677.09 remains. Additional support is urgently needed to help them get through the coming months
