Ray of hope would like to raise $9,000 for Soe Paing’s breast surgery and aftercare treatment*.

Soe Paing is a Singapore permanent resident and has been working here as a nurse for 16 years.
On 19 August 2022, Soe Paing was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. It came as a shock as she did not feel pain or show any symptoms. She only found out through her yearly mammogram check-up. Her initial treatment required her to go for 4 cycles of chemotherapy, with her last cycle ending in January 2023. Her second phase of treatment entails breast surgery in February. It is likely that she will undergo another round of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and endocrine therapy after the surgery. Due to the urgency of treatment, Soe Paing will be undergoing surgery at the private hospital she is working at and will be referred to a government hospital post-surgery for future treatments.
Although Soe Paing had sufficient savings to cover her chemotherapy before her surgery, she is worried about funding for her remaining treatment. This is because Soe Paing’s annual leave is running out, and she will soon be going on unpaid leave. Soe Paing’s insurance has a maximum coverage of $8,000, which is insufficient to cover the entire cost of surgery and future treatments.
Soe Paing’s family are all back home in Myanmar, while her son is currently pursuing his degree overseas. The current political situation in Myanmar has made it difficult for Soe Paing to be together with her family, and has taken away the option for her to receive medical-care back home. Her family has no means to support her as well.
With the funds raised from this campaign, Soe Paing will be able to receive her treatment and recover post surgery with a peace of mind in Singapore. She hopes for a smooth recovery that enables her to support her family once again, and looks forward to seeing her son graduate.
