28-year-old Tantia is a single mother to her 6-year-old son. The hardworking and diligent mother was previously working as a stall assistant till 2019 when the stall had to close down during Circuit Breaker. After multiple job searches, Tantia is now working as a babysitter earning $400 a month. However, this amount is not enough for the family of five to survive. 

Ray of Hope is fundraising $2,500 ($500 x 5 months) to defray Tantia’s living expenses as she tides over this difficult period. 

At the young age of 17, Tantia had to work as a stall assistant to support her family’s finances. After working there for almost 10 years, she lost her job after the outbreak of Covid-19 and the stall eventually went out of business. This resulted in the loss of her $900 monthly income. With no educational qualifications and the lack of job experience, Tantia felt anxious about starting a new job. 

Currently, Tantia works as a babysitter earning $400 a month. However, her earnings are barely enough to cover her family’s living expenses. Living together with Tantia in a one-room rental HDB is her son, younger brother and grandmother. Her grandmother suffers from high cholesterol and cataract. 

Over the years, because of Tantia’s difficulty to seek employment, the family has accumulated arrears and has trouble paying them. She hopes to secure a higher paying job once her son is enrolled in primary school.
