If you wish to continue supporting our three companies, you may do so at our individual giving pages:
Since March this year, when live theatre in Singapore was shut down because of the pandemic, theatre companies have had to cancel the rest of our respective 2020 Seasons and beyond, resulting in crippling financial losses and devastating the livelihoods of thousands of theatre freelancers.
Pangdemonium, Singapore Repertory Theatre and WILD RICE have reached out to one another over the recent months for mutual support, and have formed a bond over this crisis. In spite of our different styles, we share a mission to make a positive impact through the work we do.
While we continue to look towards producing live theatre again, we are striving to find alternative means of creating work. Your donation will help us survive and sustain ourselves through the uncertain future, while also securing the livelihoods of all who work with us, including the hundreds of freelance theatre practitioners we hire each year.
All proceeds will be split equally between our three companies. Please note that tax deduction is not applicable for donations made through this campaign.
Pangdemonium is a proudly Singaporean theatre company with a mission to tell stories that are challenging, inspiring, relevant, accessible and above all, of the highest artistic, entertainment and production value. It also actively nurtures new talent by creating opportunities for aspiring artists and technical practitioners to work in a professional, challenging and nurturing environment.
SINGAPORE REPERTORY THEATRE (SRT)
Now in its 27th year, SRT proudly flies the Singapore flag as one of the region’s leading theatre producers. The company’s repertoire includes critically acclaimed plays, like Art and Disgraced, as well as original Singaporean musicals such as Forbidden City. SRT is also well-known for its Shakespeare in the Park series, and is one of Singapore’s biggest producers of children’s shows. SRT was the first Singaporean theatre company on Broadway as Associate Producer on Golden Child. International collaborations include RSC’s King Lear, starring Sir Ian McKellen, and Sam Mendes’ The Bridge Project. Annually, SRT’s Learning & Engagement and Access programmes give thousands of people the opportunity to experience the magic of theatre – many for the very first time.
WILD RICE was founded in 2000 by Ivan Heng, an internationally acclaimed and award-winning theatre practitioner, and is today recognised as one of Singapore’s leading professional theatre companies. Its mission is to inspire, challenge and entertain audiences by presenting the best of Singapore theatre, both at home and all over the world. In 2019, WILD RICE opened its own groundbreaking performing arts complex in the heart of Singapore’s civic and cultural district. With a home to call its own, WILD RICE is currently ramping up its educational and outreach programmes as part of its ongoing efforts to nurture the artists and audiences of tomorrow.
Donations will be made in Singapore dollars.
1. Why are you doing this?
Our three companies—Pangdemonium, SRT and WILD RICE—have been supporting one another since early March. At the time, we cross-promoted ongoing productions that were in danger of closing early, and offered one another advice on managing the fallout from COVID-19. With this film, we want to raise awareness about the financial challenges currently faced by artists and arts organisations across Singapore.
2. What is the film about?
The Pitch cheekily raises the curtain on three theatre companies as they struggle to make art – and make peace! – with one another. It goes behind the scenes to shine light on how they are coping with cash-flow problems, creative differences and clashing egos.
3. Where can I watch the film?
The Pitch will be available from Monday 31 August 2020, 9pm SGT at http://thepitch.sg.
There will also be a virtual dialogue session on Monday 7 September 2020, 9pm SGT with our three stars, Adrian, Gaurav and Ivan, alongside director Ken Kwek. The live panel will be moderated by actor and former Arts NMP Janice Koh.
4. Why are tax deductions not applicable for donations made through this campaign?
We will not be able to issue individual tax receipts for donations that are split equally amongst our three companies.
5. Who can I contact if I have any questions about this campaign?
You may contact the fundraising managers from either of our three companies:
Clarissa Tan, Pangdemonium – firstname.lastname@example.org
Emmanuel Ng, SRT – email@example.com
Teresa Fu, WILD RICE – firstname.lastname@example.org
6. How can I continue supporting the three companies?
You may continue to the support us at our individual giving pages:

The Pitch was amazing and touching! Long live theatre!
I enjoyed watching \'The Pitch\' and hope a little contribution from one \'non-essential\' creative to another \'non essential\' creative will bring a little bit more light at the end of the tunnel! I\'m loving the collaboration! Though this may sounds a little cliché, creativity is not cancelled! May all of us pull through these challenging times! I look forward to seeing more works in the future!

“I don\'t deny,\" he said, \"that there should be priests to remind men that they will one day die. I only say that at certain strange epochs it is necessary to have another kind of priests, called poets, actually to remind men that they are not dead yet.” ― G.K. Chesterton, Manalive Thank you for what you do, have done, and will continue to do to remind us of all the joys and challenge of life and living!

Good Luck Guys. Let me know if there is any way of lobbying the Government for more funding. It would be devastating for me to have enjoyed the past 3 decades of Singapore Theatre Maturation only to see a tiny bug fell these three oak trees.
I absolutely love theatre, and I cannot wait for the time we can be watching live theatre again. Wishing the three companies all the very best in this difficult season, and may there be so much molding, rays of hope, life and fresh air even in the rough patches. We love and are waiting for you to return!
Great work people! Gets below the surface of theatre.

30:30:30 😬 had the best time watching this while serving mandated SHN in an ICA designated facility. Was grinning and tickled the whole time by the jibes at each other. Enjoyed this short thoroughly. Working in aviation and we are doing what we can, keeping our hopes up at the same time. All my best, thank you for this*

I no longer reside in Singapore, but in the years that I did, I really, really, really enjoyed watching plays/shows by Pangdemonium, Wild Rice and SRT! I miss your shows so much. I know the whole entertainment industry is suffering, and it pains me to think of how all your talents must go through such a difficult time. You really are the ones with talent, that shouldn\'t deserve to suffer for not working in offices or wfh like we can... I hope you will get through this crisis to come our even stronger and with more creative ideas. Keep reaching out for help.
Haven\'t got much to give but giving as much as I can to show my support for 3 great theater companies that have given me many treasured memories. Also giving symbolically to support theater in Singapore. Theater for me has been more than essential. Without it, I wouldn\'t be the person I am today.

Thank you for this tongue-in-cheek moment. It felt bittersweet but also full of winks alluding the world of theatre in Singapore and a note of hope at the end. My 18-yr old son has watched plays from SRT, Pangdemonium and Wild Rice for these past 2-3 years and you all have given him the taste of watching staged drama. Thank you for creating this passion in him. I’m heartened to know that my son’s first emotions of theatre will forever be linked to Singapore. Good luck to all of you : the ghost light which Ivan mentioned last 7 April is still on and will shine always. The show must go on. Love to all. Cécile

You are all absolute gems whose works help bring meaning to our lives and keep it from being bare — and particularly in this time, when we are collectively compelled to temporarily suspend most of the social bits of our lives to preserve bare life, the treasure that is the theatre is accentuated. Thank you for all that you do, please hang in there, and all the best to everyone at all the three companies — I hope this in some small way helps leave a light on.
Let\'s keep our art going! 💙🙆🏻♀️🎈🌈💪🏼
