William is a 50-year-old Singaporean staying in a one-room rental flat. For almost 18 years, he has been struggling with schizophrenia without much family support. He is also reliant on the $500 social assistance every month, but the sum barely covers his daily needs. Despite his own health issues, William is the main caregiver of his 63-year-old co-tenant who relies on William for assistance with his activities of daily living.
