Ray of Hope is raising $2,100 ($350 x 6 months) to support caregiver Yusliah. This will help with her living expenses and her mother’s therapy sessions, while Yusliah seeks employment.

43 year-old Yusliah is the sole caregiver for her elderly parents, both of whom are in their 70s. Her mother is a stroke patient and has been attending therapy thrice a week. Over the years, the sessions have helped her to regain partial mobility. The therapy sessions cost $150 per month, after subsidies.

Yusliah’s father suffers from end-stage renal failure and goes for dialysis thrice a week. He also has diabetes and high blood pressure, and recently underwent an angioplasty for blocked arteries in his right foot.

Yusliah shared that she is under immense stress to ensure her parents’ well-being. Her role as their sole caregiver makes it very difficult for her to get a job.
Yusliah’s elder brother is married with four children and has been helping out with the household bills.

“I want to help lighten my brother’s financial burden and be able to support my parents who are already old,” Yusliah shared with the caseworkers.

*Yusliah is not receiving social assistance, but will be applying for it.
