Campaign Story

Background

Mdm Noor, 41 years old, is a mother to three children between the ages of 5 – 13 years old. Her husband, Mr Muhammad, 46 years old, is working full time as a delivery driver and is also working part time after work as a petrol pump attendant to supplement the family’s income.

Mr Muhammad is currently in debt due to poor financial planning from him and his wife. Mr Muhammad took on various bank loans to finance their house and for their personal use. Unable to repay back the banks, the couple sought assistance from the Credit Counselling Singapore and is currently under the debt repayment scheme. For two years Mr Muhammad was able to manage financially and repay back the banks on time. However, he was terminated from his employment in the middle of 2016 and while he found another job, the pay was lower, and he struggled with the debt repayment.

Mr Muhammad and Mdm Noor are remorseful and is trying their hardest to make things right again and to provide a better life for their 3 children. This can be seen by their resolve for improvement. Mr Muhammad has taken on a second job as a part time petrol pump attendant. He works in the evenings after his full-time job as a delivery driver and works into the night. Mdm Noor informs us that she is preparing to enter the workforce and will be looking for full time employment.

Give Hope – Help Needed

The couple’s youngest daughter is only 5 years old and she still consumes milk powder. Ray of Hope would like to raise S$800 (S$200 x 4 months) to defray the family’s groceries and milk powder expenses. The money raised will be converted to NTUC vouchers. Mdm Noor and Mr Muhammad are trying their best to improve their circumstances. Everyone makes mistakes, but it takes courage to acknowledge the mistake and seek to improve their circumstances. Mr Muhammad is currently working hard with two jobs and Mdm Noor is preparing to seek employment. Please help them out during these few months while they seek to improve their situation.
