Mr Ram*, 47 years old, is currently serving the remaining part of his sentence at a halfway house due to narcotics offences. He is a father to two teenage sons aged 13 and 18 years old. His wife, 44 years old, is the current breadwinner.
When we met Mr Ram, he spoke of his deep regret and is currently working hard towards turning over a new leaf for his family. Before his incarceration, he held a steady job and together with his wife’s income, they were able to provide a comfortable life for their teenage sons. Since his incarceration, his wife, who is now the sole breadwinner, struggles to provide for their two sons and her ailing mother.
Mr Ram is taking class 3 driving license in a bid to upgrade himself and secure a better paying job once his course ends. He is expected to complete his driving course in three months’ time. During this time, he is unable to work, and he worries greatly for the wellbeing of his family.
Give Hope – Help Needed
Ray of Hope would like to raise S$450 (S$150 x 3 months) to defray his family’s groceries expenses. The amount raised will be converted to NTUC Vouchers. Mr Ram understands that he has made a mistake and regrets it deeply. He is trying his best to turn over a new leaf through skills upgrading. Once he has received his class 3 driving license, he will be actively searching for employment in order to supplement the family’s income. During this time, please help Mr Ram’s family!
