Hossain came to Singapore to work as a general construction worker. He earns around $1100 every month. While doing maintenance, the ceiling panel fell on him, causing him to injure his right hand. Due to his injuries, he is unable to work and support his family of three back home. As a sole breadwinner supporting his parents and wife, Hossain has no means to support his family after the accident. Hossain’s mother suffered a stroke last month and her condition has yet to stabilize.

Ray of Hope is raising $2,000 ($400 x 5 months) to help Hossain with his living expenses while he recovers.

Hossain, 29, is a Bangladeshi migrant worker. As a general construction worker, he earns around $1100 per month which includes his overtime pay. Every month, he remits the bulk of his salary to his family in Bangladesh.

On the 6th of March 2022, Hossain met with a workplace accident while doing maintenance on an air conditioner when the ceiling panel fell on him, leaving a deep cut on his right hand.  Hossain now attends occupational therapy once a week as he has difficulties moving his thumb. Due to his injury, he is unable to continue working as he still experiences pain and his case is still being assessed by MOM. 

As a sole breadwinner supporting his parents and wife, Hossain has no means to support his family after the accident. Hossain’s mother suffered a stroke last month and her condition has yet to stabilize.  Due to his unfortunate circumstance, his family resorted to borrowing money from their relatives to get by.

Hossain shared with our case worker that his MC has ended and he has no income. As the oldest in the family, Hossain feels pressured and helpless. Hossain hopes to recover soon in order to support his family again.
