Ray of Hope wishes to raise $6,000 ($500 x 12 months) for Mr Khin Naing Soe’s wife and two children. The funds raised will be used for their living expenses during this difficult grieving period.

Mr Khin Naing Soe, 41, was from Shwe Taung Maw village in Myanmar. He came to Singapore almost nine years ago, with the hope of giving his wife and two children a better life. Mr Khin was a general worker at a shipyard and earned approximately $500 a month.

On 26th April 2022, Mr Khin suddenly felt unwell while at work. He collapsed in the dormitory toilet and was rushed to the hospital. He suffered an intraventicular haemorrhage and was transferred to a nursing home to convalesce. Unfortunately, Mr Khin’s condition deteriorated and he passed away on 9th August.

Mr Khin’s wife and children in Myanmar are devastated by the news, as the deceased was a loving husband and father. Throughout his time in Singapore, Mr Khin was not able to visit his family and video-called them regularly. The family is grieving the loss of their father figure and sole breadwinner.

Mr Khin’s wife has been suffering from high blood pressure and mobility issues the past five years. She is unable to walk unassisted, so their 19 year-old daughter stopped school to be her caregiver.

The couple’s 16 year-old son attends secondary school, and works part-time to support the family. He works at the padi field near their village and operates the tractor-operated sprayer, earning between 5,000 to 9,000 kyat (approximately S$2.60 to S$6.00) per day.
