A rough start
9-year-old Abraham, a mildly autistic boy, has faced significant challenges, including being placed in foster care due to his natural father’s incarceration. In August 2023, sole custody was granted to his birth mother, Lynn, and they have been rebuilding their lives in Singapore. With sponsorship from a private clinic, Abraham, who was previously unable to attend school due to his inability to afford pre-enrolment psychological assessment, has started his educational journey. However, Lynn, a 57-year-old hospital porter, struggles to afford Abraham’s school fees, basic furnishings for their home, and additional school uniforms and shoes for Abraham. Her gruelling schedule and flat feet exacerbate the challenges they face.
When every dollar matters
Ray of Hope aims to raise $3,789.40 to cover:
- Six months’ worth of educational expenses
- Basic furnishings for their home
- Additional school uniforms and shoes for Abraham
- Orthopaedic shoes for Lynn
A labour of love
Abraham is an American citizen but have since reunited with Lynn, his birth Mother. Lynn works tirelessly to provide for Abraham, but her salary is not enough to cover his school fees, student care expenses, and the cost of transportation. They recently moved into their rental flat, a significant milestone, but they lack basic furnishings, making daily life a struggle. Simple things like a table and chair set, a washing machine, and additional school uniforms for Abraham are currently out of reach for them.
Lynn’s daily routine is gruelling as she juggles work, caring for Abraham, and managing household chores. Her flat feet cause her excruciating pain, exacerbated by the long hours she spends on her feet at work and home.
Lynn and Abraham have come a long way but they still need support to overcome the challenges ahead. Your kindness will uplift their spirits and help them on their path to a better life. Join us in making a difference in their lives.
