A Mother Who Holds Her Family Close

Sharifah and Nazreen are raising four young children aged 8, 6, 5, and 1. Together, the family of six lives in a three-room flat, where they work hard to provide a safe and stable home for their children.

Just recently, in February 2026, Sharifah was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure. Since then, her condition has progressively worsened. She is no longer able to work, and fluid retention has significantly affected her mobility, requiring her to rely on a wheelchair and care at home.

Beyond her physical condition, Sharifah is also coping with emotional and psychological stress as she comes to terms with an uncertain prognosis while continuing to care for her young children.

At home, Sharifah remains closely involved in her children’s lives. Although she spends most of her time in a wheelchair due to her condition, she continues to care for them in small ways, including preparing simple meals using a small cooker set up in their room.

Sharifah shared that what matters most to her now is spending time with her children. As her condition progresses, these precious moments together have become even more important to her.

Caregiving and Financial Strain at Home

With Sharifah unable to work, her husband has taken on both caregiving responsibilities and the role of sole breadwinner.

There are days when he needs to miss work to care for Sharifah and the children, which results in further loss of income. As a delivery rider, his earnings are already inconsistent, and each missed workday directly affects the family’s ability to meet daily expenses.

As a result, the household of six is currently relying on a single unstable income.

What Your Support Will Mean

Your support will help ease the pressure on Sharifah’s husband, allowing him to balance caregiving and work without the constant worry of falling short on basic expenses.

It will also help the family maintain the children’s daily routines, including meals, household needs, and school-related expenses.

With reduced financial stress, the family can focus more on being present for one another during this difficult time.

The family is currently in the process of securing longer-term assistance through formal support channels.

What We’re Raising Funds For

Ray of Hope is raising $3,664.80* to support the family’s needs over the next six months.

Your support of $600 per month will go towards:

  • Groceries and daily meals
  • Household essentials
  • Children’s needs

*The campaign goal includes a 1.8% payment processing fee.
