Help Keep Mdm Peridah’s Kitchen Stocked
Mdm Peridah, 64, is a widow who lives alone in a one-room rental flat. Despite managing cataracts, diabetes and chronic leg pain, she continues to care for herself and manage her daily routine independently.
She relies on a walking stick and takes short walks around her neighbourhood to remain active. She also enjoys sharing the occasional meal with a close friend. Even when she receives grocery or cash vouchers, she sometimes uses them to buy her friend a meal, an act of generosity from someone with little to spare.
Unable to Return to Work
Mdm Peridah worked as a cleaner for two to three years. In 2022, a fall left her unable to work while she recovered.
When her condition improved, she began applying for cleaning jobs again. However, employers were concerned about her mobility and the possibility of another fall. She has been unable to secure work since.
More recently, Mdm Peridah fell again at home. She managed to get up on her own and waited until her next medical appointment to seek care. Despite the growing strain on her mobility, she continues attending her hospital and polyclinic appointments to manage her health.
Making a Limited Income Last
Mdm Peridah was recently approved for financial assistance. This has given her some relief, although the amount does not fully cover her daily expenses.
Her medical bills are covered through MediSave, but she still pays for transport to her regular appointments. She cooks every meal at home to keep costs low, yet rising grocery prices have made it increasingly difficult to make her money last through the month.
Four months of grocery support would give Mdm Peridah some breathing room as she adjusts to the assistance she now receives. It would also allow her to set aside a small amount for future expenses.
How Your Donation Will Help
We are raising $1,628.80* to provide Mdm Peridah with $400 in grocery vouchers each month for four months.
Your donation will help her afford nutritious meals at home while keeping enough money aside for transport to her medical appointments and other daily needs. It will also help her continue living independently, something that remains deeply important to her.
Mdm Peridah is grateful for every contribution and takes great care with the support she receives. With the community behind her, she can focus on managing her health without the constant worry of whether her groceries will last through the month.
