Campaign Story

15-year-old Aaron suffers from Glaucoma, an eye condition causing loss of vision due to the damage of the optic nerve. In 2019, Aaron’s condition worsened and he had to undergo surgery to clear the fluids that was affecting his vision. Currently, he only has 20% of vision in one of his eye and this has affected his daily routine, especially in school.

Aaron’s father, Mr Cheong, was previously working in the home renovation business. However, his business was greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, Mr Cheong is working odd jobs while trying to seek full-time employment. Aaron’s mother, who is the sole breadwinner of the family, works as a cleaner. She brings back home about $300 to $400 every month to support the family’s living expenses. The family of three have to be thrifty and careful with their money to last them the whole month.

Aaron confided that the family is facing a lot of stress due to their financial status. The family is now relying on the mother’s income and Mr Cheong’s depleting savings to get by each month.

Ray of Hope would like to raise $2,200 ($550 x 4 months) to support Aaron’s family with their living expenses. Please give hope to Aaron so that he can focus in school and not have to worry about his livelihood!

*Aaron is not receiving government financial assistance.
