What happened to Mdm Ayeesha?
When she was fifteen, Mdm Ayeesha gave birth to baby Alex. The young mom struggled hard, especially with the exit of baby’s father. When she met Daniel, she believed that things will take a better turn for them both.
Daniel , an LTVP holder, had difficulty gaining employment and the relationship was fraught with difficulties. Unfortunately, Alex struggles with school, got involved with the wrong crowd and has been charged with theft. Mdm Ayeesha, now 30, is currently facing a divorce and is dealing with the stress, accumulated debt and financial burden that comes with raising a 15-year-old son on her own.
Mdm Ayeesha washad previously employed as a full time night shift packer, but since November 2022, she has taken unpaid leave due to the need to be there for Alex, who has been on probation since then. Financial woes, dealing with the divorce and parental struggles have taken a toll on Mdm Ayeesha’s mental and emotional health.

When RoH reached out, Mdm Ayeesha was caught between a rock and hard place. Dealing simultaneously with the divorce, her relationship with her son, debts and her mental health, she was deeply distressed.
‘I’m so overwhelmed by the situation now. As a parent, I want to be mentally strong for my son but it’s been so challenging’, she told the caseworkers.
Getting into contact with Mdm Ayeesha was an important first step in helping her get back onto her feet. She has already begun the journey of receiving professional help not only on the tangible issues at hand, but also her self-image. She is determined to see herself feel more settled and empowered, ready to take on bigger responsibilities and to support the household eventually.
