About Ray of HopeĀ
Ray of Hope was founded in 2012 to provide short-term financial assistance to families and individuals in hard times. As Singapore’s first and only crowdfunding charity, we can mobilise the community’s resources and support for those who need it. Through enabling and facilitating these connections, Ray of Hope strives to build a stronger, more tight-knit community where everyone is valued and empowered.Ā
We commit to serving the needs of low-income and vulnerable individuals and families from all backgrounds, including persons with disabilities, ex-offenders, single parents, migrant workers, isolated seniors and the unhoused. Through continuous engagement with our community and social impact partners, we explore collaborative approaches beyond crowdfunding to provide opportunities for our clients to become more self-reliant.Ā
Ray of Hope is Singapore’s first and only organisation that is both a crowdfunding platform and a charity. We are also proud to be an Institution of Public Character (IPC) that connects donors, clients, partners and volunteers to build a stronger, more inclusive community.Ā
Our Impact
Crowdfunding
Hanafi – In 2021, we empowered a young man to thrive and achieve his dreams by raising $15,962.26 to pay his unsubsidised school fees. (Hanafi is not Singaporean hence having to pay the unsubsidised fees) Since enrolling in his course, Hanafi has been acing his curriculum. He currently works at an F&B establishment at Marina Bay Sands and can support his family financially and is more secure about their future.
Ali Jamat – Ali came to Singapore to be a general construction worker in hopes that finding employment here would better the lives of his family back home in Bangladesh. But just 2 years later, Ali was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. With his humble earnings of a mere $1100, Ali was faced with what would seem like an impossible decision ā to continue seeking medical treatment or to sacrifice his treatment so his family would not have to bear the brunt of having less for their living expenses. However, no one should be in a position where those are the only two options available. Ray of Hope raised $4020 to support his family, ensuring Ali could seek medical attention without worrying about finances. Ray of Hope’s support allowed him to uphold his responsibilities as a son, husband and father without sacrificing his health. As a result, we are happy to share that Ali has returned to the workforce and is in much better health.Ā
Community building and Connecting
Community campaigns enable our clients to participate in their respective community events and foster stronger ties in the community through our engagement activities. These campaigns run in tandem with cultural holidays (Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali) and one specifically for Migrant Workers. In addition, Ray of Hope raises funds for families so that they can celebrate the festivities with the community without their financial constraints holding them back.Ā

Why Support Ray of Hope
In the last 11 years of being in the sector, we realised that the environment and needs on the ground have evolved. As a result, vulnerable communities are becoming increasingly dependent on organisations like ours. We fill the gap when all other available assistance has been exhausted to give the communities we serve have the opportunity to live a life with dignity.Ā
We realised the benefits of a multi-pronged strategy of doing good and began broadening our activities beyond financial assistance. Adopting an approach of being a connector between our donors, partners, volunteers, and beneficiaries to form an agile ecosystem beyond crowdfunding.
However, developing and growing this ecosystem is a challenge. We have chosen to preserve the sanctity of giving by ensuring that 100% of all donations go directly to our beneficiaries. Yet by doing so, it masks the real complexities of sustaining Ray of Hope.Ā Ā
We ask of you to support us to continue serving the community. Funds will be channelled towards projects, community engagement events, operations, website maintenance, case management, and other overhead costs.
