21-year-old Hanafi graduated from secondary school in 2018 and was offered a place in the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in a Baking and Pastry course. Hanafi, together with his mother and two younger siblings, are Indonesian citizens. He holds a Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP). Hanafi has three other younger siblings who are Singaporeans.
Growing up, Hanafi has always enjoyed helping his mum who is a home-based baker. However, he had to give up pursuing his studies as his family could not afford his fees as an international student.
Since he dropped out of his studies, Hanafi started working in the hotel and tourism industry to ease the family’s tight financial situation. Unfortunately, he would no longer be employed upon the expiry of his LTVP in mid-March, as the company has hit the cap for employing foreign workers. However, it is challenging seeking employment when he does not meet the educational or experiential requirements.
Hanafi was offered a place in a private institution to take a Diploma in the hospitality and tourism sector. However, his family is unable to fund this interest as they are under dire financial stress. Hanafi’s dad who was diagnosed with heart issues works tirelessly to support the family of 8.
Ray of Hope wishes to raise S$15,962.26 to help Hanafi continue with his education. Payment will be made directly to the school, based on the following instalments:
- 1st Installment: $10,641.51
- 2nd Installment: 5,320.75
Please help a 21-year-old to continue pursuing an education in Singapore, and be gainfully employed in the industry where his passion lies. The gift of education will give Hanafi a chance to pursue his dreams without being separated from his family!
