*2nd UPDATE* – The campaign has been extended to deliver more meals to the beneficiaries during this circuit breaker period. The target to fundraise has now been increased by $16,800 to $31,800 to reach 50 beneficiaries with 2 meals a day until the end of the current circuit breaker period on 1 June 2020.
Dear RGS Alumnae Family and Friends,
Once again, we are truly grateful for our community-spirited family and friends.
Because of your support and generosity, 50 needy beneficiaries are able to benefit from nutritious meals until 4 May 2020. Your donations have also helped the local catering businesses supplying the food.
We would like to report that in response to RGSA’s appeal, a simultaneous direct donation of $5,000 for the Meal Delivery Program was made to Bukit Timah CCC Com Dev & Welfare Fund. As such, we collected $5,000 over our target, which we resolved to donate to Food From The Heart, a registered charity, towards a similar cause.
Bukit Timah CCC has now requested our assistance to raise funds to extend the Meal Delivery Program until the end of the extended circuit breaker period ie from 5 May to 1 June 2020. We are therefore targeting to raise a further $16,800 at the following breakdown:
50 beneficiaries X 28 days X $6 per meal X 2 meals per day = $16,800
As before, any amounts collected over and above the targetted amount will be received and applied towards any extension or expansion of the aforementioned projects or other COVID-19 response projects and campaigns in Singapore implemented by legitimate charities and other organisations.
Please click “DONATE” and share this link with a personal appeal. Once again, thank you for your support!
*1st UPDATE* – The campaign has been expanded and extended to deliver more meals to more beneficiaries during this circuit breaker period. The target to fundraise has now been increased to $15,000 to reach an additional 50 beneficiaries with 2 meals a day until the end of the current circuit breaker period on 4 May 2020.
Dear RGS Alumnae family and friends,
We are filled with thankfulness for the response towards our initial campaign. Your swiftness and generosity were breathtaking – within an hour of campaign launch, the targetted amount of $1,800 to provide meals to those in need in our community for 5 days from 8 to 12 April 2020 was exceeded.
We’re now thrilled to report that thanks to your support, we are halfway through the pilot program which is going very well!
Due to the success of the pilot program, Bukit Timah CCC Community Development and Welfare Fund, who is overseeing this project, is now requesting our assistance to raise further funds of S$13,200 for an expansion and extension of the Meal Delivery Program to supply daily meals to 50 vulnerable beneficiaries up to the end of the circuit breaker period on 4 May 2020.
The costing breakdown is as follows:
50 beneficiaries X 2 meals a day X $6 a meal X 22 days (next Mon, 13 Apr to Tues, 4 May) = $13,200
For more information on the beneficiaries and the Meal Delivery Program, please review the original post below.
The needs and timeline are urgent and we are appealing to our alumnae and friends to donate to this cause today.
We look forward to your continued support and generous contribution! Please also share this link with your family members and friends.

*ORIGINAL POST*
To our RGS Alumnae family and friends:
It has been a difficult time for all and we hope all our members and alumnae and your loved ones are well and healthy.
In the past weeks, RGS Alumnae Society (RGSA) has been in discussions and engaging with community leaders and workers on how our RGSA family and friends can collectively support the response in Singapore to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In view of the heightened safe-distancing measures that were announced by the government last Friday, 3 April 2020, RGSA is now raising funds to collaborate with Bukit Timah CCC to utilise the ACAPS (Association of Catering Professionals Singapore) Meal Delivery Program* to supply and deliver meals to vulnerable and needy individuals and families in local housing estates who have been identified at grassroots level as needing such support.
Beneficiaries of this initiative may include the elderly, amputees and persons with mobility issues, IMH patients who are assimilating into the community, and others who may have “fallen through the cracks” of society.
Meals will be supplied by professional caterers who are members of ACAPS. A supervised collection point will be arranged for beneficiaries who are mobile to collect their meals safely.
For the elderly and for those who have mobility issues, deliveries will be made by community volunteers, who will take extra precautions by masking up and leaving food at doors with appropriate consumption guidelines.
This is a pilot project that will initially last 5 days from 8 April 2020 (Wednesday) to 12 April 2020 (Sunday).
The initial amount of funds RGSA is targeting to raise for this initiative is S$1,800, at the following breakdown:
30 beneficiaries
5 days (Wednesday to Sunday)
2 meals a day per beneficiary
$6 per meal
Total cost: 30 pax x 2 meals at $6 per meal per day x 5 days = $1,800
The needs and timeline are urgent and we are appealing to our alumnae and friends to donate to this cause today.
Your donation will mean a lot to the beneficiaries, and the success of this pilot project will be crucial to the extension of the program to benefit even more needy and vulnerable individuals and families in Singapore.
Further, your donation will constitute an additional means of support and potential lifeline to our local food businesses which have been, along with other industries, severely impacted by the pandemic and resultant measures.
Any amounts collected over and above the initially targetted amount will be gratefully received and applied towards any extension or expansion of the said project or other COVID-19 response projects and campaigns in Singapore implemented by legitimate charities and other organisations.
Please click “DONATE” to give today!
*Note: The ACAPS Meal Delivery Program aims to support the Singapore government’s initiative on social distancing by minimising the need for residents to leave their homes and providing delicious and nutritious meals at affordable prices.
