Das Sagor, 28, is a Bangladeshi migrant worker. He borrowed $8,000 to pay for the agent fees to work in Singapore. After almost five years here, Das Sagor met with a workplace-related accident. While lifting heavy power panels at work, one of the panels accidentally fell onto him causing him to fall and fractured his right leg. He is now unable to work. Without his pay, Das Sagor is worried as he is no longer able to support his family until he recovers.

Ray of Hope is raising $2,700 ($540 x 5 months) to support Das Sagor and his family while he waits for MOM’s investigation to conclude.

On 26 September 2021, Das Sagor was tasked to carry heavy power panels and cables at work. While lifting the power panels at work, one of the panels accidentally fell onto him causing him to fall. Das Sagor was immediately brought to the hospital to receive further treatment. The accident resulted in him having back pains and fracturing his right heel and toe.  

Das Sagor was earning a basic salary of $300 prior to the accident. He chooses to take up more overtime hours to at least earn $600 for him and his family. He would remit most of that sum to his family as his parents are no longer able to work. Das Sagor has a younger brother who had to drop out of school as the family was unable to finance his school fees. He is now working as an air conditioner technician but his salary alone is not enough to support the family. Since the accident, the family has been borrowing money from friends and relatives to support themselves financially. 

Das Sagor still suffers pain in his back and foot but is eager to recover so that he can resume working to support his family. He hopes to use his skills he acquired while working in Singapore to seek employment in Bangladesh.
