21-year-old Devi lives together with her fiancé and two children in a one-room rental flat. Since her fiancé’s incarceration a few months back, Devi was left to be the main caregiver of their two children (1 and 5 months old) single-handedly. Their elder son has a history of a multi-cystic / dysplastic right kidney. The renal function of his kidneys are 98.7% on the left and 1.3% on the right. He is on a six-monthly follow-up at the hospital.

With the loss of her fiancé’s income, Devi relies on the assistance from the Social Service Office (SSO) other in-kind donations to make ends meet. Her fiancé is expected to be released in February 2022.

Currently, the children have not enrolled in infant care and pre-school, but Devi is looking at enrolling them in one soon so that she can start seeking employment.
