Ray of Hope is raising $16,980 to help Elizabeth with her home renovation cost so that her family can have a conducive environment to live in. Payment will be made directly to the contractor.

Elizabeth has three children aged between 21 to 26. A single parent, she has devoted all her time and energy to caring for her children.Her 26 year-old daughter started an online floristry business and earns around $300 per month. Her 23 year-old daughter was diagnosed with moderate to severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and is on medication for a psychiatric condition. Her 21 year-old son is dyslexic and is in Year 2 at a polytechnic.

Elizabeth herself has multiple medical conditions, such as spinal issues, asthma, sleep disorder and depression and is not working. She is her middle daughter’s caregiver.

Elizabeth wants to provide her children with a better life.

Since her divorce in 2019, the 59 year-old has relied on the $800 monthly maintenance from her ex-husband and ad-hoc support from church friends to get by. Elizabeth was receiving social assistance until 2020, when her late mother bought a 4-room flat and named Elizabeth the owner. The flat was fully paid for by Elizabeth’s mother, but requires some renovation before the family can move in.

The cost of $16,980 will cover renovation works for the following:

6. Flooring Works
7. Electric Works
8. Painting Work
9. Miscellaneous Works

The family of 4 currently stays in a two-room rental flat. With three adult children, the extremely limited space has made the living situation increasingly stressful for the family. Elizabeth understands that her children need their own space.

Elizabeth has turned to crowdfunding in the hope of raising funds to undertake essential renovations and enable her family to finally have a safe home of their own.
