From Addiction to Redemption: support a Family’s Fresh Start
Firdaus and Lynda’s journey began when they reconnected during routine check-ins after completing their sentences in February 2020. Former neighbours, they reconnected and decided to build a family despite their complicated pasts. They were both determined to move forward and rebuild their lives.
Firdaus found employment as an AV engineer, and their family grew with the arrival of two sons. He even balloted for a new flat, eager to provide a better home for his family. However, in November 2022 after almost three years of steady employment, Firdaus’s past caught up with him, leading to his arrest and imprisonment. Lynda was left to care for their young boys alone while pregnant with their third child.
After serving five months, Firdaus was released and tirelessly worked to rebuild their lives once more, eventually securing a position as a JSS Operator Officer in August 2023.
“The work is meaningful. I am glad I can help others regain stability in their living arrangements. I am stressed, but I keep my home life and work separate.” Firdaus shared earnestly, as he talked about his determination to stay in the role.
Despite recent stability, financial challenges persist, including arrears from the previous year’s challenges. Additionally, Lynda, pregnant with their fourth child, remains a pillar of strength for the family, even as they support her three teenage daughters with basic sustenance, even though they reside elsewhere.
Nonetheless, with their sights set on moving into their own BTO apartment, Firdaus and Lynda remain hopeful for the future. Your support can help them achieve their dream of a stable and secure home for their growing family.
