The Struggle
Mdm Norashikin, 49 years old, is the main caregiver for her youngest son (Rizqy) who is diagnosed with a list of chronic illness that includes Pallister-killian syndrome, obstructive sleep apnea, right hip dislocation, bilateral hearing impairment, and other chronic illness. The 8-year-old is unlike other children his age and has been reliant on tube feeding since he was 2 years old. He is also unable to attend school due to his medical conditions and has to be reliant on mother’s 24/7 care. With the complex medical conditions of her son, Mdm Norashikin struggles with both caregiving duties and being the financial pillar for the rest of her 3 children.

Her husband works long hours as a delivery driver and earns $1,500 a month but that is insufficient to support the family.

Due to Rizqy’s many chronic medical conditions, he needs to be placed in an air condition setting and therefore, their SP bills are high.
