Ray of Hope is raising $10,400 to help Mr Kolanchi with repatriation costs.

Mr Kolanchi first arrived in Singapore in 2011 where he was employed as a general worker in a construction and engineering company. In his last job with the recent company, Mr Kolanchi faced great mental stress living in the dormitory for 5 months. He would have very poor appetite and would often hear voices. These voices would tell him to jump and commit suicide, and they continued to haunt him for 2 months. Finally, in the wee hours of 9 February 2022, Mr Kolanchi jumped off the ledge of the fourth floor of his dormitory building. While Mr Kolanchi is still alive today, he has injured both his lower arms and hips. He remains bedridden as he is still unable to stand or walk independently.

Mr Kolanchi has already undergone surgery on his lower arm where metal was inserted to piece and brace his bones together. The procedure costs were funded by his employer. While additional spinal surgery is required, his employer cannot afford to pay.

Mr Kolanchi’s family have been largely dependent on his salary for sustenance. As a general worker, Mr Kolanchi would earn approximately $800 to $900 every month. Since this tragedy, he has not been able to remit money home.
