Who are we?

We are Brian, Rachel and Bi Ying and we have previously been colleagues at Lazada. We left the organisation before the layoffs, and were not impacted by them. 

Why are we doing this?

The news of the layoffs was shocking and saddening for us, and we wanted to do something to help those impacted. As such, we’re volunteering our time to put an event together to support them. 

This event will be attended primarily by impacted Lazadians based in Singapore. We will also bring in career coaches, recruiters and community members who have generously given us their time.

We already have more than 70 sign ups from impacted Lazadians, and require a bigger venue than originally intended. 

What is the money going to be used for?

100% of the funds raised will go to the event to support those who were impacted. 

1. $5000 is for the venue rental, which has already been heavily discounted by our venue partner
2. $2000 for refreshments and miscellaneous items such as stationery and printing

Note from Ray of Hope

We verified that the campaign owner was an ex-Lazada employee. All funds will be managed by Ray of Hope. Ray of Hope will be paying the venue, caterers and the other miscellaneous expenses stated here in the campaign. This is a private campaign by the campaign owner meant to seek donations among friends and existing Lazada staff. 

As a charity whose mission is to build a strong and inclusive Singapore community through giving, we are heartened to see folks rallying together to support those who are affected by the sudden layoffs. Donors can give through Ray of Hope knowing that the funds will only be used for its intended purpose.

This donation is purely optional and we will still use 100% of the campaign funds for its intended purpose if you choose to opt out of the donation.
