Help Mathivanan Recover and Rebuild After a Heart Attack
A sudden health crisis changed everything
Just months ago, Mathivanan was working steadily as a Senior Security Officer, earning about $2,500 a month and supporting himself through long, honest hours.
In November 2025, his life took an unexpected turn.
What started as breathlessness quickly became something far more serious. Mathivanan had suffered a sudden heart attack, one that went undetected until his condition worsened. Overnight, his routine was replaced by hospital visits, medical tests, and long periods of rest.
As his condition required ongoing care, he was unable to return to work. In January 2026, he lost his job, leaving him without a source of income at a time when he needed it most.
A long road to recovery
Mathivanan was recently discharged on 10 April 2026 after undergoing a balloon angioplasty procedure. While this marks an important step forward, his recovery is still ongoing.
He has been placed on three months of medical leave and requires close monitoring. There is also a possibility that he may need a second heart procedure in the months ahead.
For now, he is unable to work and must focus fully on healing.
Staying hopeful and planning for the future
Despite these challenges, Mathivanan remains determined to rebuild his life.
Before his hospitalisation, he had already taken steps to improve his future by using his SkillsFuture credits to pursue a taxi driving licence. This would allow him to return to work more flexibly once he recovers.
He is also exploring further training in security surveillance management to expand his options.
Mathivanan is doing what he can to prepare for a fresh start—but right now, he needs time to recover.
