Help Clear Mdm Nurrul’s late Father’s Medical Bills
A Daughter Who Never Left His Side
Mdm Nurrul is a mother of two daughters, a wife, and above all, a devoted daughter to her father.
For many years, her father, whom she affectionately called “Abah”, has been an important part of her life. He had kidney failure and dementia. Even as his health declined, Mdm Nurrul remained by his side, accompanying him through hospital visits, medical treatments, and eventually his move into a nursing home.
One of the hardest parts for Mdm Nurrul was watching the father she once knew fade. There were days when her father no longer recognised her.
Yet she continued to visit him, care for him, and reassure him in the only way she knows how.
“I know he has been through a lot. Abah, it’s okay, you have me. I’m the one who takes care of you.”
Those simple words reflect a promise she has kept for years.
Holding On To Precious Time
Before entering the nursing home, he underwent dialysis treatment for his kidney failure. The treatment became increasingly painful and exhausting for him, and he eventually made the difficult decision to stop.
In the time she spent with him during his final months, Mdm Nurrul focused not on his illness but on ensuring that he felt cared for and loved.
As she often said, “I just wanted him to be happy.”
During that period, she was also preparing herself for the loss she knew was approaching. Witnessing her father’s rapid deterioration took a significant emotional toll on her. She grieved even while he was still alive, cherishing every remaining moment they had together.
Managing on a Limited Income
While caring for her father, Mdm Nurrul is also trying to provide for her own family.
She lives with her husband and their two daughters in a 2-room rental flat. Her husband is the family’s sole breadwinner, earning less than $2000 a month.
Mdm Nurrul has been living with chronic migraines for about eight years. The condition affects her daily life and has made it difficult for her to take on regular employment. As a result, the family relies on a single income to cover household expenses, school-related costs, transport, and other daily necessities.
The family is careful with their spending and does their best to stretch their resources. Even so, keeping up with everyday expenses remains challenging. The added burden of her father’s outstanding medical bills has placed further strain on their already limited finances at a time when Mdm Nurrul is also coping with the heaviness of losing her Abah.
Easing a Burden During Abah’s Final Months
During his final months, he incurred outstanding hospital bills accumulating to $579.65. Due to their limited income and existing household expenses, Mdm Nurrul and her husband have been unable to clear these expenses.
Breakdown of hospital bills:
- Four hospital bills of $115.60 each
- One hospital bill of $107.00
The funds raised will go towards settling these bills, easing a significant financial burden on the family. Although he has since passed, this support will help Mdm Nurrul manage the outstanding medical expenses incurred during his final months, allowing her family greater financial stability as they cope with his loss.
