When you are the parent of a child with special needs, every aspect of parenting is magnified.  As a single mother to a child with autism, Mdm Ro has been undergoing immense stress and pressure due to her heavy caregiving responsibilities. The day-to-day strain of providing care to her son has led to exhaustion and fatigue. This has taken a toll on Mdm Ro’s physical and mental health.

Ray of Hope would like to assist Mdm Ro by raising $9,380.00 for her son’s preschool fees. This will allow Mdm Ro to gain employment while her son is in pre-school and give Mdm Ro the respite care that she deserves.

Mdm Ro, 39-years-old, is a resilient mother to her two children aged 14 and 6. Her 6-year-old son was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3. Since 2016, Mdm Ro has been staying separately from her husband and continues to be the main caregiver to her two children. They are not officially divorced for the fear that Mdm Ro might not have a place to stay as she is a Long-Term Visit Pass holder. The family of three now lives in a 2-room rental flat. 

Next year, Mdm Ro’s son will be turning 7 and she hopes to enroll him in an inclusive preschool that provides early intervention/ therapy and childcare services. This would allow Mdm Ro to work while her son is in school and allows him to receive the intervention he requires. However with no income, Mdm Ro has difficulties in paying for the school fees.
