A Father’s Dream
For 6 years, Mofijul worked tirelessly in Singapore’s construction industry, helping to build the city we live in. He left behind his family in Bangladesh, driven by one goal: to give them a better life. But in an instant, that dream was shattered.
A Split Second Injury
While lifting a 50kg metal plank, a sudden, searing pain shot through Mofijul’s back and left leg. His body gave way, and he collapsed on the spot. Unable to move, he called out desperately for help.
When he sought medical advice, he was given just one day of medical leave before being asked to return to work. But the pain didn’t stop. A week later, it returned – worse than before.
At the hospital, doctors ordered an X-ray and prescribed painkillers. To this day, Mofijul remains uncertain about the true extent of his injury. Without a proper diagnosis, he is left in the dark—his employer declined to provide a Letter of Guarantee for the MRI he needed. Filled with uncertainty, he grapples with the anxiety of not knowing what is happening to his own body.
Mofijul was issued over three months of medical leave, but never received the wages that were entitled to him. Today, he still feels constant pain and numbness in his leg.
A Family Left Struggling
Unable to work and without financial support, Mofijul found his only solution – he pawned his wife’s and baby daughter’s jewelry just to put food on the table. The weight of his injury goes far deeper than physical, it has pushed his family into deeper hardship.
Now, as he waits for his WICA compensation claim to be processed, he has no way of covering his daily expenses in Singapore. The wait is long, uncertain, and unforgiving.
How You Can Help:
While Mofijul awaits his compensation, Ray of Hope is raising $1,500 ($250/month for 6 months) to help him cover basic living expenses (food, transportation, essentials etc.) while he remains in Singapore.
Once he receives compensation, Mofijul hopes to return home to seek treatment and to heal before working to support his family again.
Your support will help Mofijul endure this difficult waiting period with dignity, without the constant anxiety of how he will survive tomorrow.
Every contribution is a lifeline for Mofijul.
