The Struggle

Mdm Shikin, 32 years old, has 6 children between the ages of 3 to 14. Both Mdm Shikin and her husband used to work as Grab Food Delivery riders until the recent ban of the PMD scooters. Mdm Shikin told us that even before the ban, the $600 that the family was receiving from the Social Service Office (SSO) was barely sufficient when they have so many mouths to feed at home. Now that their assistance has ended in December and they are not able to continue with Grab Food, they are caught in a limbo and the couple feels completely helpless about the situation, especially when both Mdm Shikin and her husband have not be successful in seeking other employments, largely due to their lack of qualifications.

Help Needed – Give Hope

The sudden loss of employment has left Mdm Shikin and her husband completely off guard. They are also worried that two of their youngest children (5 & 3) would no longer be eligible for the childcare subsidies that they were enjoying when Mdm Shikin was gainfully employed. Both Mdm Shikin and her husband understand the importance of education, and do not wish to deprive their children of the chance to receive education due to their financial difficulties.

Financial Breakdown

Ray of Hope would like to raise $1,200 ($600 x 2 months) to help Mdm Shikin with her family’s groceries expenses while the couple seeks employment and as they renew their public assistance.
