With Hari Raya just around the corner, the excitement is building up from the busy streets of Geylang Serai to the pasar malams in our neighbourhoods. It’s that time of the year again when we all come together to celebrate, feast and enjoy each other’s company. But let’s not forget that not everyone can fully embrace the spirit of the festivities. Families among us struggle financially, making it especially difficult to join in the celebrations.Â

With your support, we can give families the opportunity to embrace Ramadhan and Hari Raya with dignity. We aim to raise $20,720 to support 92 adults and 58 children for the following:Â
Raya goodie bags (incl. of related expenses): $1,940Â
Mdm Silma, our ex-client, makes the Raya cookies in the goodie bags. Despite enduring financial hardships, Mdm Silma found solace and stability through her home-based business and full-time work. However, unforeseen medical complications have recently arisen, challenging her ability to earn a livelihood. Through Raya for Hope, we aim to offer Mdm Silma support during this trying time and provide an avenue for her to continue contributing to the community in her own meaningful way. Your contributions will aid Mdm Silma in regaining her footing.Â
Iftar Project
Our volunteers will once again deliver 132 buka puasa meals directly to our clients during the first weekend of Ramadhan. Thanks to the incredible support from the Kampong Glam community, generous sponsors like Cappadocia, All Things Delicious, and Penny University are graciously providing meals for this year’s Iftar bento deliveries, ensuring that our clients can break their fast with delicious meals and a sense of community spirit.
Here are some of the families you will be supporting this year:Â
Struggling through a difficult marriage, Mdm Zara repeatedly sought to keep her family together despite facing diminishing support from her husband. Her decision to file for divorce in 2020 came after years of enduring conflict and distress witnessed by her children. Although her husband has since moved out of the family home, Mdm Zara found herself burdened with caregiving responsibilities for her ageing parents and her children, especially her youngest, whose emotional challenges weighed heavily on her. Eventually, she gave up her job to prioritise her family’s needs.Â
From the moment she entered the marriage in 2017, Mdm Wati shouldered the weight of financial responsibility alone as her husband struggled with unstable employment. The years that followed were marked by not only financial strain but also episodes of heartbreaking abuse, ultimately leading to their divorce in 2022. Despite the immense challenges she faces, Mdm Wati remains strong for her three daughters, particularly her two eldest, who grapple with autism spectrum disorder and various learning difficulties.Â
