About SAS for Ray of Hope
SAS for Ray of Hope is led by a group of students from Singapore American School aiming to inspire its community through giving, as a means to become more connected to Singapore. By raising awareness of social issues impacting single mother families who need help, our network of students, teachers, administrators and families aims to raise $10,000 in 2024 to support single parents who are trying their best to provide for their families amidst the hardships they are facing.
About Ray of Hope
100% of your donations through Ray of Hope goes to people in need. We do not take a cut from the funds. We even cover the 3rd party credit card charges, if you choose not to, that other crowdfunding platforms deduct from your donation for campaigns.
All campaigns are also fully verified, so you know your funds goes to real people with real needs.
We take donor accountability very seriously – with yearly audited accounts and strong governance in place to ensure that your donations is properly channeled to the beneficiaries.
Ray of Hope is Singapore’s only crowdfunding charity. We are a registered charity and a member of the National Council of Social Service.

Hema: A Single Mother’s Journey to Stability
In the heart of our community, Hema, a 31-year-old single mother and full-time paramedic, embodies unwavering determination as she strives to secure a stable future for her two children. Having overcome two challenging marriages and recently renewed her nursing license, Hema now faces the daunting task of breaking free from years of accumulated debt while caring for her 9-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son, who is on the Autism Spectrum. Despite working tirelessly, often overtime, Hema struggles to make ends meet. Your support can provide the crucial breathing space she needs. A monthly contribution of $803 would cover basic living expenses, power supply, and school bus fees for six months, offering stability to this resilient family. By empowering Hema to focus on her career advancement and potentially transition to her dream role as an Ambulance Nurse, your generosity will not only alleviate immediate financial pressures but also pave the way for a brighter, debt-free future.
At 29, Zaki bears the weight of being both breadwinner and caregiver for his mother, Mdm Idah, who battles chronic depression following years of abuse. Working as an ad-hoc mover, Zaki earns just $700-800 monthly, struggling to cover living expenses and his mother’s crucial medical needs. With his younger brother in National Service, Zaki stands alone in this challenge. Mdm Idah’s ongoing mental health issues and inability to work have left the family facing mounting bills and an outstanding utility debt. Your support can provide the lifeline they desperately need. We aim to raise $646.70 monthly for six months to cover essentials and medications, plus a one-time payment of $383.29 for outstanding bills. Your generosity will offer Zaki and his mother the stability to focus on healing and rebuilding their lives. Join us in supporting this resilient family’s journey towards recovery and hope.
