Three Generations, One Fight for Stability
For Tina, her mother Mdm Lisa, and her 3-year-old daughter, life is a daily balancing act.
As a single mother, Tina works retail shifts while ensuring her little girl is safe and well cared for. Every evening, she races from work to pick her up from school, but unpredictable hours often mean she’s late, resulting in extra childcare fees. Despite the challenges, Tina pushes forward, working hard to earn commissions and build a more stable future for her child.
For a moment, things were looking up. Since receiving help from Ray of Hope last year, the family was working towards financial stability. In August 2024, Mdm Lisa took on a job to contribute to their household income, hopeful that their dream of moving into a 2-room rental flat would soon become a reality.
Then, everything changed.
The Unexpected Setback
Mdm Lisa started feeling constantly fatigued and short of breath. A doctor’s visit confirmed she had pulmonary venous congestion, a condition that makes it impossible for her to continue working. With Mdm Lisa now unable to contribute financially, their path to stability has become even more uncertain.
“I don’t cry in front of my daughter and granddaughter. But when they’re not around, I do,” she shares quietly. “If I had a choice, I would be healthy. No one wants to be sick and needy. I just want to work, save, and take care of my family.”
With help from their Family Service Centre, Mdm Lisa is applying for long-term assistance, but the process takes time. In the meantime, they need immediate support to keep their family afloat.
How You Can Help
Ray of Hope is raising $1,200 to help Tina, Mdm Lisa, and their little one cover three months of essential expenses ($400/month), giving them some breathing room while they navigate this difficult time.
Your donation will go directly toward:
– $250 to help Tina pay for her PAYU credits, keeping the lights on for her family.
– $50 to ensure Tina can access GP visits when needed.
– $100 to cover Mdm Lisa’s travel and out-of-pocket medication costs.
Tina and Mdm Lisa have shown incredible resilience, doing everything they can to keep going. A little help now can keep them on their feet and bring them closer to the stability they’re working so hard for.
