The caseworkers were updated by Mdm Wong’s adopted daughter that Mdm Wong had passed away two days back. Her tumour has grown in size and her condition has deteriorated over the past few months. Ray of Hope will continue to disburse the remaining funds from Mdm Wong’s campaign to her adopted daughter monthly in view of the family’s financial stains.

The case workers visited Mdm Wong recently for her disbursement. Mdm Wong is also one of the recipients for the Hong Bao for Hope 2020 campaign, and we have raised an additional $200 for her. The elderly was delighted and grateful that with the money, she is able to purchase the food that she likes so that she gets to enjoy a good meal, at least on New Year’s Day. Health wise, she told us that her tumour has been painful, but she remains reluctant to undergo the operation due to her age. She is grateful that she is still mobile at her age and is able to move around on her own. Mdm Wong told us that it is her wish that the everyone who has helped her in one way or another will enjoy great health and happiness! She also wishes everyone a Happy New Year!

Mdm Wong has received her 2nd disbursement from Ray of Hope. She wishes to thank the donors for the donations that have helped her get by.

Last week, the case workers met Ah Ma for her cheque disbursement. Ah Ma was grinning when she spoke about receiving the rations from our donors last week. The rations were of a surprise to her as it had the fresh fish and chicken which she loves but rarely had due to the family’s limited finances. She told us how disheartened she feels to be forgotten within the community due to her citizenship issues, despite having stayed here all her life. Due to her stateless stateless, she is not eligible for any government assistance and is only relying on the $250 from Ray of Hope each month to make ends meet. Yet at 81, Ah Ma remains hopeful that there there is light at the end of the tunnel. Ah Ma’s cheerful and chatty personality strikes a chord with us, and we hope to continue supporting Ah Ma with her living expenses.  ?
