This is Madam Wong who turns 81 this year.
Ray of Hope has previously assisted Mdm Wong with two rounds of fundraising for her living expenses. Prior to her last disbursement, ah ma has expressed concerns about no longer receiving support from Ray of Hope. Ah ma told us how important this amount means to her as it is her only source of income. While other seniors are entitled to Silver support schemes and receive payouts occasionally, she informed us that she did not receive payouts of any kind due to her citizenship. The only monetary support that she was receiving was the $250/month from Ray of Hope. That $250 is also the only source of income for the 80 year old.
Besides being diagnosed with a tumour, the 80-year-old also has mobility issues and the weakening of her joints is making it difficult for her to move around independently. While the doctor has advised her to go for operation to get rid of the tumour, Mdm Wong is reluctant to do so despite being warned that her tumour is life threatening and that her days are numbered.
Ray of Hope would like to raise $6,000 ($250 x 24 months) for Mdm Wong’s living expenses so that she does not need to worry about when her meals will come. With your help, you can help make her days count!

1st disbursementLast week, the case workers met Ah Ma for her cheque disbursement. Ah Ma was grinning when she spoke about receiving the rations from our donors last week. The rations were of a surprise to her as it had the fresh fish and chicken which she loves but rarely had due to the family’s limited finances. She told us how disheartened she feels to be forgotten within the community due to her citizenship issues, despite having stayed here all her life. Due to her stateless stateless, she is not eligibl...Read More
