Rofiqul, a migrant brother from Bangladesh, has been working in Singapore since 2014. As a general worker and father of two, he left his home and family to build a better future. 

In an attempt to protect his co-workers in a workplace accident,  Rofiqul strained his back and is now suffering from a posterior disc bulge.

The Accident That Changed His Life

On November 26, 2023, Rofiqul’s life took an unexpected turn. While moving a 1000 kg signboard with his team, a miscommunication led to an accident. In a split-second decision to protect his colleagues, Rofiqul strained his back, resulting in a posterior disc bulge. This injury has significantly impacted his mobility and ability to work.

The Challenging Road to Recovery

For the past 10 months, Rofiqul has been navigating a challenging recovery process. With only one month of paid medical leave, he faces not only physical hurdles but also financial strain. The injury limits his ability to lift heavy objects, a crucial aspect of his work, and he requires ongoing physiotherapy. Even basic daily activities have become challenging, yet Rofiqul remains hopeful.
