Dear Partners,
Ray of Hope will be initiating a new campaign called ‘The Ray of Hope Bridging Fund’ to ease the suffering of families affected by the pandemic.
It has been a really challenging year so far. At Ray of Hope, we have seen a tremendous rise in the number of families in need, due in part of the COVID-19 situation. We recognized that many individuals are affected by changes in their employment, putting their families in a much tougher situation. The Ray of Hope Bridging Fund will enable us to help 100 such families.
Each applicant that qualifies will receive a one-time payment of $500 per household. Our hope is that these families can use the fund for their immediate needs, between jobs, reduced pay or waiting for their next paycheque to come in.
Priority will be given to: (1) Applicants who have lost their job (2) Blue CHAS cardholders.
Closing date for applications will be 7th September 2020.
Please apply on behalf of your beneficiaries using the form provided. Upon submission, an email will be sent to you with the details you have entered. Please check your spam folder in case you did not receive it.
1. When will the beneficiaries receive the funds?
They should get their funds by the end of September 2020 if the submitted bank account details are accurate.
2. How many beneficiaries can I apply for?
There is no limit to how many beneficiaries you can refer us. However, we might not be able to give the $500 grant to everyone if there is an overwhelming response.
3. I know my beneficiary lost their job or had their hours cut, but they do not have proof because it’s an informal employment. Can I still apply on their behalf?
Yes, you can. We understand that not all who are under informal employment have documentation. We only need you to declare on their behalf that they have indeed lost their job or had their hours cut.
4. I have a non-Singaporean/PR family who really needs help – can I appeal on their behalf for the $500 grant?
Yes, we recognize that there are many in the Singapore community who falls through the cracks. We will have to give priority to Singaporeans, but we will consider their application if we have remaining funds to disburse.
5. Why do you need my beneficiaries contact details? How would you safeguard their privacy?
There might be instances where we need to verify the information directly with the beneficiary (for instances, wrong bank account number was given). You will be kept in the loop if we do contact them directly. Any information that is submitted through our website is encrypted and rest assured that we will adhere to strict PDPA policies when it comes to your personal information.
6. My client needs more than $500, can I appeal for more?
Unfortunately, we have to strike a balance between helping more families, vs giving each family a higher quantum. If you have a family that needs more help, please refer them to us using this link – and we can fundraise for them on our platform. 100% of all funds raised on our platform will be for the families, Ray of Hope does not take a cut.
7. My client suffered a pay cut instead of having his/her hours cut. Can I still apply?
Yes, you can apply on his/her behalf as pay cuts would be similar to having their working hours cut. During selection in the dropdown box for ‘Job Status’, select ‘Had Hours Cut’.
