Ruby, aged 31, is a single mother of three young children. Her second child is currently under the care of the father while she cares for her oldest and youngest child, aged 11 and 5 respectively. As Ruby is of Vietnamese citizenship, she holds a Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) in Singapore. The two children under her care are also non-Singaporean.

Previously, Ruby was working full time earning about $2,000 per month. However, she was asked to resign due to having to take multiple leave to caregive for her youngest child. Her 11- year-old daughter is currently a student. As her daughter is a non-Singaporean as well, she does not qualify for government assistance. Hence, Ruby is now struggling with the education arrears for her daughter.

Despite her financial hardship, Ruby hopes that her children can continue receiving education here while she seeks employment to support the family. The resilient single mother hopes to seek employment once she is able to find a suitable caregiving arrangement for her son.

Ray of Hope hopes to raise $4,620 to help Ruby with the following expenses:

1. April’s rental fee ($500)
2. The family’s living expenses ($450 x 4 months)
3. Her daughter’s school fees ($580 x 4 months)

*Ruby is not receiving financial assistance from the government due to her LTVP status.
