Family and Care Arrangements
• First child:
After giving birth at age 19, Atiena’s sister’s future in‑laws, Mdm Huda and Mr Ali, took in the infant a few months after birth. They continue to care for the child.
• Second child:
Her younger child is currently living with her at the shelter.
Current Living Situation
• Atiena is residing in a shelter, where she and her infant receive basic necessities and transport assistance. Her case worker at the shelter is – Cheng Wenshan (Ms), Assistant Director, Safe Place, (An initiative of Lakeside Family Services)
• She is supported by a case worker from Wira, who previously assisted her financially. This support has since stopped.
• She is under the Yellow Ribbon programme.
• She has applied for SSO assistance, which is still pending. She has received the letter from SSO and needs to bring it to the bank; this process is still pending.
• She has applied for infant care for her second child. The child has a place at West Coast. She has started her infant care.
• She has applied for government rental housing and has been approved; she is currently waiting for the flat selection appointment.
The case worker would like to provide some immediate cash assistance to help her meet her basic necessities while she waits for financial assistance from SSO and Wira.
Client has went to the bank to update bank details end of February 2026. Pending approval from the bank. SSO unable to process her application without the bank details. Recommendation to use emergency funding for one month of living expenses while she awaits approval from SSO.
